"The plane leaves in twenty minutes," He called back. Today Landon wore his usual attire, faded jeans, deep olive T-shirt, and beige windbreaker. His hair, though a bit disheveled, lie beautifully on top of his head. He picked up his bag and hung it across his shoulder. Without looking back at the marvelous woman behind him, he continued to walk.
He tried not to think about the other night. The wonderful and breathtaking moment they had. He also tried not to wonder what could happen on this trip. A trip to Italy. Just the two of them. The thought alone should be enough to make his silent heart stutter. His blood-shot stare glanced back at her. Her bright crimson hair flowed beautifully upon her small shoulders. Her pale complexion in perfect contrast to its deep hue. He felt his heart stutter as he watched her face, her full lips waiting to be kissed. He turned around quickly and continued down the aisle.

Mneme couldn't believe that, so soon after wishing that she could just get away, she was doing exactly that. In twenty minutes, she would be on a plane to Italy. She couldn't help an odd sensation of butterflies in her stomach, which was only enhanced by the fact that she kept remembering that evening on the hills. She and Landon were all alone from now on, in Italy nonetheless. There was probably a reason why Italian was one of the romance languages. She tingled before brushing off these thoughts for the umpteenth time since that night.
At least her body was finding something practical to do while her mind wandered aimlessly; she picked up her bag as well, and proceeded to follow Landon towards their flight. She had to admit that she really didn't know much about airports and the like, and was quite content to follow Landon around and imitate him. It wouldn't do to think about these sorts of things, especially since they were all alone. No one would know if anything happened, of course, but they themselves would, and there was a high risk of things being awkward when they got back to Lamdon. She sighed faintly and tryed not to eye him too much from behind. "How long is the flight?" she inquired, more for the sake of distracting herself than anything else. It wasn't as if she was particularly impatient, although she was very eager for their vacation.

With blood shot eyes, I watch you sleeping The warmth I feel beside me is slowly fading Would she hear me, if I call her name? Would she hold me, if she knew my shame?
Breathing deeply, Landon unsuccessfully tried to put the other night behind him. He could still feel the warmth of her cheek, the silky softness of her hair upon his hand. He inspected his hand, turned it over so the palm faced him. He traced the lines on their surface as he recalled the feeling. With a sigh, Landon Stark clenched his fist and continued through the security checkpoint. "It's about one day," He murmured as he placed his suitcase on the belt and his keys, phone, etc cetera in the bin. "But, I thought you'd might like to take a detour and run the rest of the way," Landon's smooth voice was so low and swift that only vamps and wolves could hear.
He walked through the security gate and picked up his things. He motioned for her to hurry. He hurried through the plane's gate and looked for their seats in the first-class section. He lifted his suitcase up and put it in the compartment above the seats. Then, allowing her to have the window seat, he sat down and relaxed.

One day seemed like an awfully long time to be stuck on a plane, even to a fairly patient vampire. Mneme was quite glad that he knew of a detour that would shorten this amount of time. "That sounds nice," she agreed. A run through the new, foreign landscape sounded like a lovely way to stretch out after the plane trip. Another thing that sounded rather lovely was Landon's voice, which he had lowered so that the humans wouldn't hear him. It caused a tingly feeling to run down her spine, and she mentally reproved herself. This wasn't a good time for such feelings, and she would have to get used to supressing them over the next few days.
She followed him through security, grabbing her belongings and scurrying after him onto the plane. She happily slid into the window seat, glad of the view that this offered her. Even now, although they were hardly in the air yet, the view was interesting. There were people scurrying about between all kinds of different aircrafts, people helping the planes land, people dropping others off at the airport and saying goodbye ... Mneme rather enjoyed people-watching, and the best part of it was imagining who these people were, where they were going, and why. There was one person (she couldn't really tell which gender), with slicked back, dark hair, a black business suit, and a briefcase. With a childish little grin, she gently poked Landon in the side, and pointed to the human. "What do you think? International spy off to Moscow on a secret mission, or project manager on a business trip to Albuquerque?"

He slid into the seat next to her. His arm brushed gently against hers, which caused him to shiver. Landon pulled his arm back quickly. He could feel the inexistent heat rise to his cheeks. He gazed at her, his eyes were kind and loving. He watched her merrily gaze at the view, the people scurrying to catch flights, the ones trying to wake up. She elbowed him and asked him a question. He chuckled full-heartedly. "Definitely a secret agent,"
Soon, the plane took off. Landon tried to rest on the trip, but failed. He cast furtive glances over to Mneme. He took in her beauty in private. He could feel his dead heart stutter as he gaze upon her. Stark wondered vaguely what this trip would bring.
Finally, after about a day, they landed in Roma, currently known as Rome, Italy. Landon grabbed his bags and handed Mneme hers. He stretched his legs out once they exited the plane. Calmly, he breathed in the fresh, crisp air. A cool smile tugged at the edges of his lips as the cool wind enveloped him. It felt good, to be out of the stuffy automobile. He gave his legs one more stretch and smirked at the marvelous woman beside him. "Ready?"

Despite the many distractions, Mneme rather enjoyed the flight. In fact, the distractions of the people bustling about (and smelling rather tempting, too), and the movie that was playing rather helped her to remain entertained. The other distraction, which she liked a lot more, but was rather uncertain of, was Landon. He didn't say anything (not that she did, either), but he was there. Aside from being able to see and smell him (which was very nice), she could practically feel him next to her, even though not a bit of them was touching. There was a sort of static tension between them, if it wasn't just her, and it was more confusing that anything she could think of. After her game of people-watching, there was a sort of awkward silence, which she wasn't sure how to break, or if she should even bother (what if he found it peaceful?).
It was all very confusing, and she tried her best to concentrate on the humans and their antics until the ride was over. She took her bags from him, and was glad to be on her feet again. Vampires could stay still for a hell of a lot longer than humans (who were never really still, on account of having to breathe and whatnot), but that didn't make it very comfortable. Plus, all breathing puns aside, a little fresh air was still very nice. Maybe it was because she had just been on a stuffy plane for so long, but the air on this side of the ocean seemed very different from back in Lamdon. In fact, it was rather nice.
"I'll race you," she grinned back at Landon childishly, before skipping off at a human's pace, since they were still in view of the plane, and she wasn't really sure which way they were going, anyway.

I can't keep pacing I need your blood tonight You're so far from me And I'm so weak inside Come fly to me I'll show what it's like When the full moon shines We'll stop hearts together When we're conjoined at the lips, I feel alive; I feel undead. Pumping new life through these veins, Holding onto the finest thread.
Volterra was approximately 133 miles northwest from Roma. So, it would take them roughly four minutes to reach their destination. Landon frowned. He had planned to take longer. Perhaps get a snack on the way, watch the sunset maybe. Explore a bit. He glanced up at the sky, it was almost sunrise and it usually was very sunny during the day. It would be suicide to expose themselves in sunlight in the heart of the Volturi's territory. Pure, mad suicide. Looks like his plans were to be postponed.
His crimson gaze focused on Mneme. Landon's breathing came to a stop. She was so strikingly beautiful. Her crimson hair flowed gracefully behind her as she skipped exquisitely. After a moment, his breathing returned to normal and a low chuckle sounded from his lips as he ran at a human pace after her. When they were out of human's view, he winked at her and dashed off. "Catch me if you can!" he called playfully. The wind violently whipped at his face. It was the only sign that he was running at the speed of sound. Everything around him was in slow motion. He nimbly dodged obstacles and jumped over rivers and creeks. He caught a flash of red and laughed aloud.
Take my hand, Grip it tightly. Don't let go. I promise pain will pass you silently. Take my hand, Grip it tightly. Don't let go. With your neck, I'll kiss you violently.

There was nothing like running, especially when one was a vampire, and could run properly. No namby-pamby business about running out of breath, and losing one's balance, and falling over things. In fact, it was probably one of the best things about being a vampire, and that was saying something. Mneme wasn't a cynical person, but she knew very well that being a vampire wasn't exactly the best fate to befall someone. But what was best, really? Was it anyone's right to judge? You had to make it the best, to work with whatever you had. That sounded more like Mneme.
Not that she was all unicorns and rainbows, but still. Actually, she thought unicorns got a bad rap. They couldn't possibly be capable of the vomit-inducing cheerfulness that they seemed to represent. But that was something completely different.
It had been a long time since Mneme had been out for a good run, and even longer still since she had had such good company. She laughed and chased after Landon, not really intent on catching him, per se, but enjoying the feeling of a 'hunt'. That was another thing that had made her feel rather cramped in Lamdon: you couldn't hunt anything properly. Obviously she couldn't go after humans, and animals were her only alternative. But it was too easy. They didn't have a chance, as soon as she targeted them, and she wasn't sadistic enough to play with her food. Not that this was particular in Lamdon at all; since vampires were so powerful, it was hard to find anything amusing to chase down anywhere.
But Italy was a new place. She had never been there before. To her it was fresh, new, uncharted. It was almost as if she could do anything there.
And here was the perfect excuse. Landon had said to catch him if she could, hadn't he? Catching another vampire might actually be a bit of a challenge. Of course he probably wasn't expecting her to take it literally, but that was fine. Mneme liked surprises.
She sped up, pushing herself forward. Another vampire perk: she didn't have to worry about staying in shape. It didn't matter if she hadn't run this fast in weeks; she still had it. Closing in, she leapt at Landon's back, trying not to wonder if his muscles felt as good as they looked. Carpe diem.

-+-To kiss my lips will leave you cold tonight you'll need my blood And I'll devote my life Come fly to me, I'll show you what it's like when the full moon shines We'll stop hearts together-+-
[/sup] Moving felt good, Landon decided. The run was wonderful and refreshing. The wind kissed his cheeks and danced over to the enchanting vampiress behind him. He thought back to the night were they had almost kissed. They were so close. He felt the electric sparks where they touched, the heat emanating from her magnificent body and the static between them. He shuddered as a cold chill ran through his body.
He lept into the air, over a tree and cried with enthusiasm. It was amazing. There wasn't enough room in Lamdon to do this. He gracefully landed back on the earth, continuing his run. His mind was elsewhere when he felt something tackle him from behind. He had begun to snarl, but then the sweet scent of the crimson hair that caressed his face made him smile. He laughed as he stumbled and fell. Odd for a vampire, but she caught him completely by surprise.
"No fair!" He cried, chuckling. "You caught me in my thoughts," His chuckle died slowly as he gazed into her fantastic eyes. He reached over and tucked a piece of hair that had fallen in her face behind her ear. That one small touch set him off. Landon cupped her face in his hands and leaned forward. His lips touched hers gently, softly, sweetly. He kissed her passionately, pulling tight against him. Her sweet scent filled his senses and he let out a small moan. His tongue traced her lips. His dead heart begun to beat as electric shocks burst from his lips to the rest of his body. All of Landon's nerves intensified where they touched. Sto cadendo nell'amore con voi.
-+-It's just like me to attach affection to a second chance So pull me any closer and I can tell you how it ends Pull away from this embrace before it's too late-+-

Mneme yelped and giggled as her catch fell underneath her, sprawling the two of them on the ground. Smiling, she stuck her tongue out at him childishly. "I never said I was fair." He wasn't being terribly fair himself. Was he aware how wonderful he smelt? How deep his eyes were? Did he notice how close they were? Had he somehow arranged it so when they fell? If he knew any of this, Mneme would have accused him of ... what? Of trying to seduce her? He didn't really have to try it any more. But she was more worried that he didn't notice any of this, that he actually wasn't trying, that it was all in her head.
She shivered as he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, wondering if that was all he would ever do to her. The same thing had happened back on the hill, when they had decided to go to Italy ...
Then he kissed her. She would have yelped if her mouth hadn't been otherwise occupied; as it was, she made a noise in the back of her throat, and felt a wave of shock rush through her. It took her a moment to realise that his hands had cupped her face, and that he was actually kissing her softly, but she felt as if someone had thrown a bucket of water over her nontheless. When she had recovered a moment, she tangled her hands in his hair, pulling him closer. He licked her lips and she gasped, running her fingers down the back of his neck to his shoulders.
She pulled back a little and grinned, "Now you've caught me." She slowly kissed along his neck, hands roaming down his chest, mentally tucking away the discovery that he did, in fact, feel better than he looked, which was saying something. Mneme hadn't really expected anything of this sort to happen almost immediately after getting off the plane. In fact, she had been trying not to expect anything of the romantic sort, because it would have been awful to be disappointed. She didn't want to have to worry about anything. She was on vacation, for crying out loud.
And she wasn't worrying about anything just then. She didn't care if some hikers walked by (although this was probably unlikely). She didn't care that her hair was going to get tangled and full of grass again. She didn't care that her paisley dress was going to get grass-stained and rumpled. Mneme was naturally a rather carefree person, or at least she tried to be, but just then, she honestly felt she could say that she hadn't a care in the world.
