"Sure, sure," Chogan replied, pretending not to care about his homework. Or, well, he was half-pretending, 'cause of course he didn't care about homework--he had better things to do. But he also did care. He did care for Lilly, already, and he was going to do his homework just for her.
Then something unexpected happened. Lilly leaned in... Chogan stared dumbfounded at her as she wrote her phone number on his hand. The touch of her hand made goose bumps rise on his bare arm. Her skin was nice and cool to his, but while she was touching him, he felt uncomfortable. Because he couldn't think, couldn't breathe... and then Lilly pulled away. Chogan had never thought that a single, light touch could do so much to you. He wondered what it would be like to k- No. No, no, no. NO! He was so not thinking about Lilly Anderson this way. He hated her. She might be beautiful and whatever, but he hated her! Period! Lilly talked, but Chogan wasn't listening. Couldn't. He was too overwhelmed, and he needed a few minutes away from Lilly to recover. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw that she was leaving. But he couldn't focus on anything but numbers on his hand right now. He needed time.
