Loneliness, what an akward word. The feeling of being alone... lonley. Humm, well it seems to desribe itself without actually saying anything. But is it just a feeling? Or could it be more? Perhaps an emotion itself.... Behind the tears of Melody Barlow it was the only feeling she ever felt. She was so detached from the world and unknowing of what was really beyond her point of veiw. After her parents had died in a car crash and was more attached to her brother than ever before. He was the only one that ever cared about her to the extreme... and then he commited suicide. Why would he do it, what did she do wrong to make him commit such an act? After his death she found Zetsumei and clung to her, she was the only one that she could find to replace her lost love for her brother. Maybe that was the way out, maybe if she... no. The little werewolf sat by the waterfall, her head rest of her paws and she stared at the falls beneath her. She stood up and looked at the darkness around her, maw raised to the sky and a cry of sorrow filled the night sky. Her fur stained in tears, and blood. this was the only plea the poor fea could make... someone to love her, someone she could hold on to forever.

:: This was the last cigarette from the pack Joelle had swiped from the shirt-pocket of the trucker she had hitched a ride with almost a week ago. She puffed tenderly as she walked, becoming deeper entangled in this knot of a forest on Mother Earth's round body. The red-hot red-orange glow at the tip of the lit cylinder provided a bit of light in an otherwise dark atmosphere. The moon was up, yes, but these trees hadn't dropped more than a few leaves yet, so there was quite a bit of foliage to block the silver rays. Joelle kicked herself for straying from the road.
Oh yeah, it'll be fun to get away from the pavement and just walk in the woods for a bit, she had thought. Pfft. Load of good that had done her. That had been at noon. Now it was hours later and she was lost and on the last cigarette. Joelle didn't even really like to smoke; truth was the stuff tickled her lungs, and not in a good way. It made her insides feel itchy, and there was no way to quick pop out your organs for a quick scratch then stuff them back in; it was something that just had to be endured. No, Joelle smoked for the memories that lingered in the scent of those thin, gray wisps. It was something she had gotten quite used to during her "expeditions", as she liked to call them. Joelle was missing that life. She loved other people; lived to interact. Begin by herself wasn't much fun...
A howl rung out over the forest. The teenager froze mid-puff.
"Fuckin' ay," hissed she under her breath as images of a million wolves with burning yellow eyes and bloodsoaked fangs begin to creep out from every shadow. The teenager snuffed the cig out, knowing she wouldn't be able to take any further enjoyment from it, and hurried on her way. The smart thing to do would be find shelter, but she didn't know where to start. Some survival show had said to follow whatever running water source there was nearby, and that's exactly what the fae was doing now, following the stream. Would it be worth it to stray from that to seek out a refuge? A dull roar was growing in strength as she thought while she walked. Soon Joelle reached the source of the sound: a waterfall. Maybe there was some kind of cave behind it. Even though it was kind of cold, she knew she wouldn't be able to climb in her tight coat, so Joelle took it off and tied it around her waist. Clad in a gray tank-top, the albino attempted to make her way up the side of the structure, but fell after only scaling about five feet. She tried again, but failed that time as well.
Discouraged, Joelle crossed her arms and rested her back against the rock, pouting. Maybe if she had been paying attention during the rock-wall climbing unit during gym class, things would be going better for her. She couldn't just give up though. After a deep breath, the human hopped to her feet and began again. This time went much better, and after a grueling twenty minutes she made it to the entrance only mildly wet from the unavoidable mist that the waterfall was producing. She crawling inside to catch her breath.
After resting only a few moments, the fae was feeling rather uneasy. She turned her pate back and forth to discover there was a canine in the dark not too far from her.
"Oh shit!" she whisper-yelled before clamping her hand over her mouth. Joelle stared, pale orbs unblinking. It was hard to make out in this light whether it was in fact a wolf, or just a dog. Well, whichever it was, it didn't seem very agressive...
No longer afraid, the female extended her hand forward for the animal to sniff, to show she meant it no harm.
"Hey honey," cooed the fae. "I'm not going to hurt you."
The human wondered why everyone always said that, even though dogs can't understand what you're saying anyhow so there's no way they could gain any comfort from it. ::

Audits swivled in every direction. Melody knew she was probably just hearing things. It really did sound like someone talking this time, she thaught this to herself rather than outloud. Afterall she didn't want Zetsu to know where she was, or what she was doing. Pools scanned around, the whole night-vision thing was new to her and she couldn't understand it very much. She waited, until out of nowhere someone came up over the edge of the falls. Startled Melody backed off slightly, the scent was human... to her. Yet again her werewolf senses were unknown. The odd thing, that startled her the most was her pinkish hair. Melody's hair was pink to... and blonde... and black. Multiple peircings lined her ears and mouth. But that was only when she was human. Now little Melody decided to play the role of a timid dog, since she was to small she could be mistaken for a dog instead of a wolf. Right now she was thankful for that. Bi colored pools fixed on the girl, she seemed a bit frigtened at first but then cooed soothing words. Melody croushed down slightly and sniffed at her hand. An innocent aura overtook her.

:: There was a movement of air on her mitt; the canine must be sniffing her. When it didn't snap at her or growl or anything, Jo felt encouraged enough to pet it atop its head, the smile upon her face hidden in the darkness. The peltage was soft, but clotted with something hard here and there. Could it be dried mud? The fae hoped it wasn't blood, as she didn't particularly care for the stuff. It was fine as long as it stayed instead someone's bodice, but once it broke the constraint of skin which was clearly there specifically for that purpose, the female would began to feel light-headed. Just the idea had made her empty stomach dance a little, but it passed as quickly as the thought did.
The ears were twin, triangular peaks, not the floppy dog ears Joelle was used to. She swallowed hard, the wolf howl from earlier resurfacing along with her fears. Joelle let her hands slip down the nape. They glided over the hairs uninterrupted by any sort of collar. Of course, it could just be a dog that had broken its leash, so its lovely necklace would have come off along with the chain. No collar didn't mean it was a wild beast. Besides, surely if this beast was indeed wolven it would have already attempted to devour her, right? Cats were sneaky, tyrannical bastards that would play games with their victims, but a wolf was honest enough to come right out and eat you. It couldn't be a wolf. Joelle licked her lips, her tongue passing over the cool, familiar metal of her lip ring. It wasn't a wolf. The pink-haired fae repeated this out loud to comfort herself.
"Naw, you're not a mean wolfie, are you, honey? You're not going to eat me. You're just a sweet doggie, aren't you? A sweet, dirty doggie," said she as she moved her hand from the top of the head to either side of the face, scratching enthusiastically now. The tone of her voice matched the teen's actions: higher, with more energy than her usual pitch. ::

Pink tounge lolled out over her jagged ivories. It was an akward dog smile really. The sensation of the petting was amazing, now she understood why dogs liked it. Banner swayed back and forth gently. Pools focased on the girl as she seemed to be investigating her. First with her ears and then around her neack, what exactly was she doing? Melody likes this, yes indeed, it felt much better than hurting herself, maybe she would act like a little lost doggie more often. Then she got an idea, maybe if the girl knew that she was lost she would take her in and Melody could be her pet. But then she thaught of Zetsumei and vampires, if they came looking for her the girl might get hurt. Audits twicthed, she was a sweet doggie? If only she knew the real her. Even if she was mistaken her to not be a wolf Melody was glad.

:: Fish yes, and a few cats as well, but Joelle had never had a dog before. She was thinking this over as she pet the canine. It was far more likely that the reason it didn't have a collar was because it was lost, not because it was a savage beast. She probably shouldn't keep it because it probably already belonged to someone...but when had that ever stopped her before, the fae thought with a twisted smile.
It needs a name, realized Jo. But the teen didn't even know if it was a girl or boy. She could check by feeling it, but that seemed inhumane. The albino could wait until morning to see. It was easier to name things when you could see what they looked like anyway. Her eyes hurt from trying to focus so hard in the darkness. Joelle shut them, face tight as the beginnings of a headache teetered between becoming worse or leaving. The constant roar of this waterfall wasn't helping with that, but at least this little indent went far enough back that she wasn't getting soaked by the mist or anything. That would suck, to have a sore brain and shivering bones.
With her eyes shut, Joelle realized just how tired she was. She had been walking all day, and now that the terror of wolves was dying away and with it the adrenaline that had provided her with the strength to scale the rock face, the pink-haired female was pooped. This repetitive petting was also relaxing; too relaxing. She was nodding off...
After letting her head sink then snapping it back up to stay awake fourteen times, Joelle finally missed one, and her crown stayed down. She slumped against the wolf beside her, wrapping her arms lightly around the nape, adjusting the position her form lay in to fit against the four-legged creature's shape. Her hot pink locks lay draped across her chalky, sleeping face and onto the wolfess's hide, the two different kinds of hairs becoming intertwined. She was breathing directly on the pelt, the strands of fur dancing as Jo inhaled, then exhaled, then inhaled.
Her clothes were filthy and smelt of grime, sweat, greasy fast-food, and cigarette smoke. She had two granola bars left in her pockets, and her throat was dry from lack of water. She didn't know what she would drink or eat in the morning, whether that day would be the day she'd find Home, or at least hit a town, maybe meet someone and find a place for the night. Yet despite all this, the young woman slept deeply, though she dreamed of nothing at all. ::

Melody was puzzled, was the girl thinking? What was she thinking about? Could it possibly be the same train of thought she was on?. Audits twitched and an almost wolfy purr was emitted from her chest eventually slipping out of her maw. Banner continued to sway gently back and forth. Orbs flashed back and forth from the girl to her sorroundings. Was she getting tired? Well she wasn't like Melody was so she mush be, she was nodding constantly before she suddenly stopped. At first Melody was scared but soon realized she had fallen asleep. Should she wake her? No it was best to let her sleep. Ah sleep, somthing Melody herself hadn't done in days, she was so tired. She layed herself down and looked around, nearly jumping when arms wrapped around her body. She lay for awhile well the girl slept, she could feel her curled up in her fur, she tried to smile. With a new mission Melody curled around the girl, although she was small she could provide some warmth and protection for the night.

:: The first sound that entered the seventeen year old Joelle's ears was the deafening rush of the waterfall. At first it was fine, but the more the female was capable of thought the more she thought something was wrong. For with her eyes closed, it wasn't a harmless tumble of water, but the roar of a semi headed her way. Her whole body tensed, arms included, which made Jo suddenly aware that she had something between her upper appendages. It was another body.
"Motherfucker!" yelped the frightened fae, pushing back. All of these realizations were hitting her in the same second and a half, not nearly long enough for her to process them properly. The shock of cold water made her instantly shrink from the direction she had just been going to back where she had come from, but too quickly; she knocked her head on the rock wall. Holding one mitt to the injured area, Joelle quickly scanned the little room. It was the cave she had come to last night, no longer clothed in darkness but bathed in blue shade. Everything was starting to come back to her. The warm bodice that had been beneath her was the friendly canine she had discovered last night. Joelle wondered if she had hurt it when she tensed up or pushed back off of it.
She wasn't sure how she had been envisioning the dog in the dark last night, but it wasn't like this. The albino ran her hands through her now-drenched hair and rubbed her wet shoulder while observing her cave-mate. By day it was smaller, with a pelt unlike any the female had seen. The main part was a mixture of white and black, red tints that sort of looked like flame running down her chest and stomach. On her cheek there was a little pink patch that Jo fancied looked like a heart. Her own heart sank a little. Surely if the beast was this unnaturally decorated it must already have an owner. However, there were scratches and it had indeed been dried blood upon the bodice, so obviously they hadn't been taking good care of it. It was Joelle's civic duty to adopt this doggie.
"Good morning. Sorry if I scared you, honey," said she happily, gently petting the animal's head right between those triangle ears. The creature's easy, bi-colored eyes [another unusual feature] made the human forget the rough start her day had just gotten off to and placed her in high spirits. The only thing that was obscuring an otherwise bright bliss was the fact that she had to continually refer to the canine as "honey".
"I wish I knew what your name was," she admitted. Not that the dog could do anything about it. Maybe if Joelle just watched her long enough, the right name would come.
While thinking about this, there was a growl. No, not from a threat outside the cozy spot behind the falls, but from within it, more specifically within the teenager's stomach. She stopped petting the oddly-pelted beast and pulled her legs out from under her so that she was knealing and able to slip the granola out of her pockets. Eagerly, she tore one open and took a bite. Mmm, it was apple-crisp flavored. The female extended her arm toward the animal, offering it a bite. She didn't really know what dogs were supposed to eat, but knew that most of them would chow down just about anything, and it was better to have garbage in your tummy than nothing. ::

Awaken with a jump Melody looked around, where did the female go? Growing frantic now she wiggled around in search of her, only to find her crawl back all wet. Now she was puzzled. What had happened? She thought, studying the wet bodice of the pink haired pale woman. Banner swayed gently from side to side as she approched. The rushing water and the roar of the falls deafened the poor werewolf, along with a few other sounds and what sounded like a growl. Melody jumped and looked around, fearing someone was out to get her. She looked around franticly and noticed a hand extended towards her. Out of fear she ducked and closed her eyes. After a few minuted of quite she opened an eye and studied the bit of food that was being held out to her. Feeling like an idiot she raised herself up slowly. Well the poor girl musr be hungry and now she was sharing with a werewolf... oh dear. Melody didn't know exactly what to do so she acted like a hungry dog would do. She reached out and gently took the offering before jumping back slightly. She... wolfed it down and lept down the rocky side of the falls. No she couldn't bring herself to leave the girl after she had fed her, she just needed to return the favor. She lept along the side of the water and down the river in search of fish. Perching herself ontop of a rock she scanned to fast flowing water. Minute after minute she watched until a large school of fish swam past. Now Melody had never been fishing before so she didn't know what to do. Insticnts kicked in and she dove into thw water, jaws snapping and paws fluttering. After about ten minutes our daring little wolfy pulled herself to shore with a size-able fish in her jaws. she shook the water off of her coat and bounded back towards her friend. Her energy levels had dropped sufficently and she remained going on will power. She began to scale the slippery rockside of the falls, paw after paw she scaled the wall until she reached the cave in witch she had been staying. Once she had reached the top she wiggled over to her friend and dropped the fish on her lap, now she only hoped she liked fish.

:: With a sense of satisfaction, Joelle watched the canine eat. This was surprising, as her soul was about as selfish as they came. Even her eyelids fluttered when the warm emotion registered.
You're goin' soft, Jo, she told herself, but watching the furry creature chomp away at the second-to-last bit of her food was too cute for her to care about that. She never realized how much she liked dogs. She had been sleeping with a guy for awhile a few months back, and he had owned a dog, but it was one of those little pugs with alien eyes that really look more like cats that she hadn't cared for at all. Or maybe she just didn't like it because all the negative energy of that relationship rested on the memories of the tiny, ugly brute. The albino shrugged at the thought. Either way, that was behind her.
Curiously, Joelle watched the graceful beast make its way over to the entrance. She was just about to ask what it was up to when it jumped, answering her question. Naturally, one would assume a stream of profanities would began to pour from the pink-haired fae's chapped lips, but no sound came. Had she just committed suicide? From this height she couldn't have landed without hurting herself. Joelle scrambled over and peered over the edge, but couldn't see. She crawled back inside the cave, the mica of the floor scraping her knees and the bare palms of her hands. Hugging her knees to her chest against the far wall, the albino tried to do something, but didn't know what to do, didn't even know what to think. What the hell, was all that would come to her mind, and indeed it was fitting.
After a long ten minutes, she thought she heard something. Sure enough, those furry triangle auds appeared, then the rest of the head, followed by the bizarrely painted body. The she-dog had something in her mouth, something that turned out to be a slimy wet fish, right in the human's lap, soaking through her jeans as it sat. Jo stared it's unblinking, gold and black fish eye, but was no match for its dead gaze.
Once again: what the hell.
Was this some kind of present? Was she hoping for this female, one with mitts that were blessed with opposable thumbs, to gut this water-dwelling being and roast it? Joelle lifted up her left butt cheek off the stony floor and felt around in her back pocket for the lighter she had used just the day previous to light her last cigarette. A bright flame was quickly produced. It's spark caught in her deep orbs, and shone there mischievously. Fire. It was beautiful and deadly; a combination the girl desired for herself, for certainly there was an added charm, knowing that the dancing ember could and wouldn't hesitate to bite; that it was a wild, savage thing that you could pretend you had tamed, but never really would.
Having no better place to put it, the teenager was forced to place the scaly creature into the pocket of her coat and just hoped it didn't slip out during her descent. She couldn't start a fire in that cave for two reasons: one was the small space would fill up way too quickly with smoke and there'd be nothing left for the odd pair to breath, and two, she didn't have any firewood up there anyhow. Once more Joelle looked out over the side, pulling her long, obnoxious hair out of her face in order to judge the distance and the best possible route down. How had she done this last night? And how had the dog done it without hurting itself? Trusting her body's instincts, she straddled the stony wall and made her way down. She wasn't sure how long it took, time seemed irrelevant, but she finally made it. Things were easy after that, though the first few minutes of gathering kinder was difficult because her knees were still shaking. Soon enough, however, a tiny but red-hot fire was going. The girl had skewered the fish and was turning it over and over the coals so that it would cook but not burn. It was actually starting to smell really good, and would be done soon. Having been so preoccupied with the cooking, she had forgotten to keep track of the canine. The fae looked up anxiously to see if she was nearby.::

Orbs danced with curiosity as she she-wolf watched the flame that was held in the hand of her human. Yes from now on she would call her "human" and she would be hers. When Melody really thaught about it she sounded like a phsyco. Barley knowing someone, (who didn't even know she was secretly a werewolf) and she just claims her as her own. All this time had passed and she had forgotten why she was here. Audits twitched and the she-wolf looked around. Whereever did her human go? Auds perked up and she looked over the side of the cave. There she was slowly but surley scaling down the side. Plastering herself to the cave floor head pointed downward and orbs and auds locked onto the girl. "Be safe" she almost whispered. As long as it took she never blinked once until she was on the ground safe and spreding the flame into a fire. Melody got up and bounded out of the cave, hoping from one pice of rock to another. Good thing she was small otherwise this might end up bloody.

:: Oh good, here she came. Joelle hadn't realized she'd been holding her breath until she let it go, in a sudden burst.
I must be more lonely than a realize, the teen thought to herself. Then again, it usually takes me only one night to fall in love, she added wryly.
This, this was difference though. Yes, she had given to this creature, but not expecting something in return. And this animal knew nothing of oh well he bought me this now I have to find him something or equal or greater value or I'll owe him and we won't be equal. It gave simply because it wanted to give.
If only real people could be like that...
Believing the fish to be finished cooking, the pink-haired albino brought it to her lips and ripped off a hunk with her teeth. Ouch, it was burning hot! She tossed it back and forth inside her mouth, not letting either side get burnt too badly, before it was cool enough to swallow. Joelle didn't know how it tasted because she hadn't gotten a chance to. Lifting the stick straight up and away from the flames so that it could further cool off, she cupped her hand around her mouth and called out:
"Fresh fish! Hot fish! Come an' get it!"
Waiting for the dog to join her, Jo looked around. It was actually quite a beautiful morning. The sun was freshly risen and the sky still held some of that sweet, early morning pink only dawn can bring. As she was smiling to herself and looking around, something caught her dark blue eye, something that did not belong in her picture-perfect morning: a grizzly bear.
The fae's spheres became perfectly round as her mouth hung open, creating another circle on her face.
"Sweet fuckin' shit! It's a bear! It's a motherfucking bear!" she tried to scream her exclamation, but it came out as a raspy just-above-a-whisper.
Joelle was scared out of her mind. This wasn't like the wolf howls she heard last night or the monsters who might lurk in the shadows; this was real and it had real claws and it was really right in front of her. The huge beast took more steps toward her, growling at her. Terrified, she grabbed the skewer the fish had been on and flung it at the shaggy brown creature, thinking perhaps it had smelt her food and just wanted that. However, she hurled it much too hard and speared the bear in his shoulder. Roaring, he stood up on his hind legs, showing off teeth that, just like candy corn, were white at the tips, a sick yellow in the middle, and a sicker orange-red up at his infected gums.
The teen couldn't move. She was past piss-her-pants scared and was now deer-caught-in-headlights frozen where she sat on the ground as the grizzly started to charge.::
((OOC: It's really unrealistic, I know, but it was what I could come up with, so please bare with me))

The scent of cooked fish quickly filled the fea's nostrils. Yummy. ""Fresh fish! Hot fish! Come an' get it!"Was she really inviting her to go and eat? Well if only werewolves could be that nice. She slunk forward, nose pointed in the direction of the fish, it smelled wonderful. She inched forward and was just about to take a bite when; "Sweet fuckin' shit! It's a bear! It's a motherfucking bear!". Melody jumped back at such speed she landed on her face. Standing up quickly she shook off, what was she screming about? Quickly the cause of the shouting came into her veiw. Pure instinct took over and like a strike of lightning a snarl ripped forth from her maw. Of course it just had to be a giant fucking Grizzly bear that ruined her peacfull morning. Fur stood on end and audits snapped forward, bi orbs locked onto the bear and Melody jumped quickly infront of her new friend, trying to sheild her.. Like she had a chance in hell of beating this thing, it was a gaint, living, breathhing, mammal. Then it hit her. It was a bear, she was a werewolf, much stronger than a normal wolf. But still would she be able to stop it alone...

:: "No!" cried the albino as her canine friend jumped between herself and the shaggy brown enemy. It was one thing to share fish and a completely different one to offer up one's life. Joelle was a dirty skank who had never produced anything good in this world in her life, and probably never would. She wasn't talented, wasn't special, wasn't a good person. She did not deserve to have this soul exchanged for her own.
"Stop! Stand back! Heel, dammit!" Jo fumbled about with various commands to cause the animal to retreat. The human had begun to crab-walk backward, toward the cave where she and the funny-pelted dog had spent the night. Grizzly bears couldn't climb, right? So after they reached the safety of the rocky indent it would have to lumber off, sulking about its empty stomach. Joelle only hoped that the canine would understand. Not to insult it or anything, as it seemed like an intelligent beast, but it was still an animal. It didn't have the same reasoning skills the human girl did, couldn't formulate plans like her brain could. There was danger, so it had reacted, and the pink-haired girl was afraid her doggy instincts would keep her here until that danger had been removed. ::

Meloy's eyes gleamed angrily, her ivories covered in saliva, auds plastered to her head. She could barley hear or see a thing, just the bear. Her tail shivered and stood up straight. Out of the corner of her eye she could see the girl shuffling towards the cave. It seemed like a good idea... after all she had never seen a bear climbing up a rock just to go after a girl. Well that didn't matter she had to but her some time. Without another thaught she charged towards the bear. She was not afraid of it, after all it should be afraid of her right? She lept straight for its throat and latched onto it. There was much fur to grab onto considering her size but shear detirmination drove her now. But with a sad twist the bears paw swiped upwards and dug into her side. She flew off. The bear ran, most likely pissed that it had been attacked, but now Melody lay on the ground, bleeding. She lifted herself, shaking while she did so and climbed back towards the cave... if she could just make it to the cave. She yelped in pain but eventually made it into the cave. She saw the girl and then collapsed. What had happened she did not ask for but before she knew it she was shifting back into human form. There she lay, bruised, bloody, human, and nude.
